HUD publishes every assisted multifamily property with its owner, its subsidy contract and the FHA loan behind it. DLRadar matches those properties to parcels and groups them by operator, which produces the operator network on the site. This page counts the matched properties by state and shows how many contracts expire within a year, which is when an operator decides to sell, refinance or opt out.

  • 63,626 multifamily properties across 53 states with 1,670,742 units, 671,428 of them assisted.
  • 0 subsidy contracts expire within the next twelve months.
  • Subsidy types: unspecified 51,450, SECTION_8 6,197, PRAC 5,631, LIHTC 328, 202_811 20.
  • FL has the most properties at 45,357.

Name, address, county, total and assisted units, subsidy type, contract expiration date, FHA loan amount and loan status, project status, and the match status to a DLRadar parcel with the evidence behind the match.

Contract expiry as a signal

An assisted property whose contract expires within twelve months is at a decision point. Operators renew, convert or sell, and each path produces a transaction. The expiring count in the findings is the live pipeline.

Multifamily Operators and Assisted Properties by State (2026): questions

Is every apartment building included?

No. The directory is built from HUD assisted and FHA-insured multifamily data, so unsubsidised market-rate buildings appear only where another source matches them.

What is the subsidy type?

The HUD program under the contract, such as project-based Section 8, Section 202 or 811, as published by HUD.

How are properties matched to parcels?

By full address against the roll, under the join rule that rejects name-only matches, with the evidence stored on the record.
